I just wanted drop a line to tell you how amazed I am by the Denefrips Ares 2.
All the praise and accolades for this little unit are 100% well deserved. This little piece of gear as completely blown me away and because of it I am now “digital only”. I stream Quboz from my MacBook Pro directly into the Ares 2 via USB then run the balanced XLR connections to a Yamaha AS2100 integrated amp.
The Ares 2 provides the little touch of warmth needed by the very precise Yamaha, and increases its “tube like” feel. The Ares 2 is fast and detailed, smooth and airy. The combo is amazing and perfectly complement my Elac Unifi 2.0 speakers.
Maybe the speaker selection seems like an odd choice but I’m telling you the synergy of all three is unreal!
I will be upgrading soon to the Pontus 2. Being an all digital audiophile now I want to utilize the I2S connection of the Pontus 2 with a I2S streamer. Thanks to the sound of the Ares 2 for opening the digital door, and making me a Denefrips customer for life!
