Hi Alvin,
Firstly I would like to thank you for your wonderful service in helping me to purchase my Denafrips Terminator 2 and Hermes DDC.
My Denafrips upgrade began when a Hifi enthusiast friend suggested I upgrade my Teddy Pardo DAC which at the time I was quite happy with. I started reading many reviews on various R2R ladder DAC's and decided that the Denafrips seemed to offer the best value for money.
I began by purchasing the Terminator 2 and noticed an immediate improvement in sound quality-in particular the depth of bass and a larger more precise sound stage. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to try the Hermes DDC. I was a little doubtful that I would notice much improvement as I use a Coax cable from my upgraded Node2i streamer ( no USB out on this unit ).
However I was pleasantly surprised by a notable further improvement in sound quality.I had to wait a couple of weeks for my Coax cables to arrive from Signal Cables (based in USA ).When they arrived I found the instructions for connecting the clock out from the Terminator a little confusing but I found a thread on the internet that explained the process very precisely and I was soon up and running with the clock out from the Terminator.I am using I2S with a Chord HDMI cable. Once again a further step up particularly in the bass response which I have always felt was little lacking in my system.
So I am pleased to report that I am very happy with the final result of my Denafrips journey and I don't see myself looking to upgrade my DAC for a long time to come .
Thank you Alvin for all your help on this journey and your prompt replies to my email queries along the way.
