As I promised, enclosed you’ll find some pictures of my setup.
Beside a Rega P3 turntable with an Ortofon 2M bronze and a Lehmann Black Cube pre- Phono, and an Arcam FMJ CD37 player, I’m streaming music (TIDAL, Qobuz and local files from a NAS) with a Bluesound Node 2i and with a Raspberry PI3 which runs Gentooplayer (www.gentooplayer.com), an excellent software developed in Italy.
The preamp and the poweramp are two jewels built by a good friend of mine, while the speakers and B&W 805, about 20 years old and still sounding great.
I’ve been searching for years for a good DAC and went through many delta-sigma models.
Finally I’ve got to know about Denafrips ) and its R2R DACs on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/raspyaudio ).
I purchased the ARES ii and recently added an Iris DDC to my chain.
The result is outstanding, maybe some less detail compared to some delta-sigma DAC, but a great balanced overall tone, good rhythm and more musicality, which is finally more important.
And this with their entry-level models, which are characterized by a great quality-price ratio.
Thanks finally to VINSHINE AUDIO PTE LTD, and in particular to you (Alvin), for the excellent support.
With my best regards.
