Just installed the 1.4 in the Pontus 2. The sound is the best of all releases !
Detailed and tone-balanced as I like.
Btw the best drums sound I’ve heard on my CDs from Porcupine Tree…
Here a couple of pictures of my very simple system :
- Ampli : Moonriver 404 Reference
- CD transport : Cambridge CXC
- DAC : Denafrips Pontus 2 1.4 update
- Cables are the affordable models from Cardas and Chord for liaising, and +/- 100$/cable for power.
I've not yet endorsed streaming (not convinced by sound quality and available library) but think of listening to hi-res files eventually through an addition or upgrade of the CXC for an integrated CD+file system.
